The Agriculture Department manages over 600 acres of natural grassland and 49 head of cows, 5 bulls, and about 40 head of bison. The main focus of the Agriculture Department is rangeland and grassland management. Another focus of the department is in providing Tribal members with beef and bison.
Soil Samples
These Soil Sample Results are an annual summarization of the Tribe’s agricultural lands and their status in relation to certain aspects of soil health. This is a new effort by the ITO Agriculture Department, in conjunction with OES, to better understand the needs of these lands and to holistically increase soil health, ultimately gaining better production yields for hay and healthier livestock overall.
